How do I perform a functional test on my AV-240?
Use these steps to verify the AV-240 24-Hour Flashing Beacon is operating correctly on site.

Test steps
- Check battery voltage. Voltage should read 12.0V or above. Below 10V the beacon will not flash. The stop voltage is 10V
- Check solar charging. Batteries under charge should be 13+ V, confirming charging is operational.
- Confirm the beacon is flashing. With the battery connected the beacon should be flashing continuously at 0.5s on / 0.5s off. There is no push button or on/off switch — the AV-240 flashes as soon as the battery is connected.
- Check night dimming. Cover ambient brightness sensor briefly. Flash intensity should reduce. Uncover brightness sensor — intensity should return to full. This confirms automatic night dimming is functioning.
ℹ Solar panel check. Remove any cover from the solar panel and confirm it is unobstructed and facing south. In direct sun, battery voltage should be slowly increasing as the system charges.
