How do I care for and clean my AV-400 solar engine?

The solar panel is the only part of the AV-400 that requires routine maintenance. Keep it clean and unobstructed for reliable year-round operation.

Cleaning the solar panel

⚠ Clean in the early morning or evening only. Cleaning a hot panel with cold water can cause thermal shock and crack the glass. Avoid cleaning during the middle of the day.

  • Inspect the panel surface for dirt, dust, bird droppings, or debris. Any buildup reduces charging output.
  • Rinse the panel with clean water to loosen surface debris.
  • Wipe the panel surface with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Do not use abrasive pads, solvents, or harsh detergents — these damage the panel coating.
  • Rinse with clean water and allow to air dry.
  • While on site, check for shading from vegetation or nearby structures that may have grown since installation. Even partial shading significantly reduces charging output.
